Come-One-Come-All
A regatta to test your skills, or lack of. It's purely for fun, rum and bragging rights. We will gather on the North Wall (of Monroe) between 8am and 9am the morning of the race. Skipper and Crew meeting is at 8:45am and the boats head out between 9AM and 10AM.
Jun 19th - Aug 7th - Sept 12th SPONSORED BY THE WEATHER MARK TAVERN (www.weathermarktavern.com) NOTICE OF RACE |
| |
The Course is normally 2 or 3 legs and a total of 5 to 10 Nautical Miles in distance (depending on weather conditions.) Actual course is announced on race day, at the skipper's meeting. * We will hold one distance race this summer, from Chicago to Hammond (or the Ogden Dunes), if weather permits.

Who can participate? Anyone. We have Mac and Offshore race veterans (as well as first time sailors), Members and non-member boats alike (because we dislike you both, argh!) Member boats are free, there is a $20 fee for non-member vessels that wish to participate (so join up!) |

Results and time. All boats are rated on the USPHRF system (modified loosely by the PMYC, argh!) If your boat has never raced, we use the mid-range PHRF rating. If you have completed a Rum Bottle Regatta, your rating will be adjusted (by the Commodore and Vice Commodore, over a bottle of rum) based on your placement in the last race. We try to make it fair for everyone that participates.

What the hell is PHRF?!?! It stands for PERFORMANCE HANDICAP RACING FLEET. It's a rating system that handicaps a vessel, based on a number of factors. The handicap is in the form of seconds per mile given or taken. (Example, if one boat rates a 100 and the other a 120, the second boat will have 20 seconds per mile removed from their final race time, this is their 'adjusted time'.) We also add 2% to over-all-time for Spinnaker, and take off 2% to over-all-time for Single-Handing and Jib (vs Genoa).

Want to crew? Boats are always looking for crew on race day. Sign up for the race ahead of time and show up the morning of the race, we'll find room for you! You may also email any of the boats signed up below and volunteer.

How do I sign up? Email HarborPilot@pmyc.net with your boat name, make and size, and we'll add you to the list! |
